i do think the ideas of making mod less important are good but im skeptical itll change a lot

at least the promos, its a very amazing thing that would suck if it was lost

I don't know how we're supposed to strike the balance here when a huge pressing concern for years has been that mods' behavior is being overpoliced and looked into too closely and it feels too suffocating to have a public presence anywhere because we're treated like official representatives of the game, but then a case comes up where someone was behaving imperfectly in a separate sphere in a separate game and someone goes out of their way to dig it up and make it a public issue and we go back to saying that person needs to be held accountable for it, I don't want it to come across as though I'm like picking a side here when I say this but we gotta pick one and stick to it

honest answer, it's the only way to have hope with such an rng system 😭 some mods including myself go through highly sent levels to see what all the fuss is about and theres some pretty cool levels in there, it can be a good way to get your name out there if you're already getting unlucky, some levels even get suggested here when viprin/nick ask for them

Piggybacking off the original level and prioritising being impressive and flashy over taking care of the source material or making it out of love

the only issue i see with 1.9 or below gdps levels is that i feel like some creators do these type of levels to avoid learning all the stuff you can do in the 2.2 editor and address their technical weaknesses with it, i saw stanstanmansan on my stream a few days ago and he said something like "1.6 gdps levels are cool because it's hard to make something that stands out with the limitations of 1.6" and he's right, but i think it's even harder to make something that really stands out in 2.2

nick’s next round is apparently platformers so probably good to have a structuree approach to leg+ ratings and take other suggestions periodically in between

because atm, lots of ppl miss the opportunity to req a level and also rob ends up only rating like half of the suggestions 😭

I don't think demon system had any cons it was ultimate peak and made the whole rating system very healthy and fair for everyone

i’ve always thought the demon system itself was a great way to get levels seen more reliably if everyone uses it right and the fact that it had to be discontinued because it wasnt being used well sucks

Yeah there were two big eras of issues with it, before the XP system was added it was that participation was low and people were pressuring each other not to vote just based on the video, and then after the XP system was introduced there was this issue of people grinding as many votes as possible for XP such that they didn’t always even pay full attention to the levels

Nah it honestly just tightened the standards in general, regardless of what it looked like or how it played, because choosing to concede to send something for star rate did worse for levels than just not sending it at all/never coming across it yourself in your requests

I think to avoid any situations like this, stolen level problems should only be dealt with if the stolen level gets rated or gets significant attention otherwise

not as harmful as leaving the copied level rated in case it's actually stolen

It just makes it more problematic to get your level rated on main

Makes it inconvenient for us but these people know hustle

i've seen some cases where the level was only posted on a gdps and someone stole it and put it on main servers but aside from that it wouldnt make much sense

yeah i've noticed in recent time a lot of ppl who report that their lvl was stolen in my dms always prioritise the mindset of "can you send my level and not the stolen one" rather than "can you delete the stolen one"

and if they get angry that you’re not playing their level that was stolen you just kinda gotta go yeah i’m sorry but there have been some people abusing that so i want to keep things fair and play the id i was sent

i think this exact thing happened on my last request stream and it lowkey feels like they’re trying to abuse the “stolen” aspect to get something to happen, like let’s be completely real, how do you steal someone’s entire level before they upload it, it just seems super weird like the more you look into this specific case the more oddities appear

btw i have no exact proof of this it just felt weird compaing the levels in the editor
